Our first frost advisory came tonight which means the beginning of one of my least favorite things to do: COVER THE GARDENS!
Katelyn discovered some carrots that were ready though, so that's a good thing. The girls love planting and taking care of our gardens. I usually can't keep them out of the tomatoes, peas, beans, and strawberries. Yummy! This year we planted.....corn, brussels sprouts, broccoli rabe, peas, beans, carrots, cantaloupe, tomatillos, jalepenos, red, green, and orange peppers, pumpkins, onions, sunflowers, zuccinni, and lots of other kinds of squash and tomatoes. It's been a rough weather year...not alot of sunshine, so they are producing slower than usual. I'm really excited to can peaches this year. I've done tomatoes a few times before, but never peaches. Any pointers?
